In the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, the 7th guiding principle states, “Effective teaching practices are intentional and build on children’s intrinsic strengths and interests by providing developmentally appropriate instruction that incorporates many opportunities for interactive experiences, exploration, meaningful play, and problem-solving”. It is important for educators to intentionally plan playful, hands-on activities to support each young learner's literacy and mathematical growth. In this All day session, participants will learn how strengthening a child’s fine motor skills is the key to drawing and writing comfortably. Teachers will be able to plan and incorporate hands-on materials while creating developmentally appropriate prekindergarten lessons.
