Scrolling Minds: The Impact of Social Media on Student Mental Health

The objective of this presentation is to raise awareness among students about the potential effects of social media on mental health, empowering them with knowledge and strategies to navigate social media platforms in a way that promotes well-being and self-care. Participants will delve into topics such as social comparison, cyberbullying, fear of missing out (FOMO), and the pressure to present an idealized self-image online. Throughout the session, attendees are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences with social media and its impact on their mental health. Thought-provoking questions spark lively discussions, as participants share personal insights and perspectives. The facilitator will provide resources for further exploration and encourages ongoing dialogue about the intersection of social media and mental health in academic settings.
