This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.


Important Session Information:


During the workshop, teachers will compare the book, the movie, and the play "To Kill a Mockingbird."  In addition,  award-winning actress and singer, Denise Lee, will engage teachers in activities related to themes from "To Kill A Mockingbird" such as prejudice, family life, and courage that will inspire new forms of student engagement.

The tentative agenda for the To Kill A Mockingbird Professional Development on Wednesday, May 17th is as follows:

4:30-5:00 p.m.
Arrive and Check-in at the African American Museum Lobby

5:05-6:25 p.m.
Welcome, Introductions, and Interactive Presentation by Denise Lee 

6:30-7:00 p.m.
Catered Boxed Meal in Museum’s Solarium

7:00 p.m.-     
Walk across the Museum’s parking lot to the Music Hall to see "To Kill a Mockingbird" (show starts at 7:30 p.m.)
