Putting Primary Sources First w/ the Institute for Curriculum Services

This Social Studies professional learning opportunity will provide support with implementing the Social Studies TEKS, research-based instructional strategies focused on inquiry, historical thinking and future-ready learning and access to quality resources targeted to provide support for all grade levels.

Important Session Information:

Primary sources expose students to multiple perspectives on important topics and issues of the past and present, as well as help students develop critical inquiry skills.  As a Consortium Member of the Library of Congress's Teaching with Primary Sources Program, ICS's trainer-educators are well-versed in utilizing the LOC's digital source analysis tools. The presentation will introduce teachers to those tools and the many ways they can support their instruction. Through participating in activities that model analyzing a variety of types of primary sources, in engaging ways, teachers will understand what primary sources are and their importance in a well-rounded learning environment
