The Texas Legislature has appropriated funding to provide mathematics achievement academies that will enhance teachers’ knowledge and skills so they can effectively teach students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, and 4. Any grade Kindergarten - 4th grade teacher who works for an Independent School District or a public charter school who successfully completes a 3-day academy will be eligible to receive a $350 stipend.
Important Session Information:
In the Mathematics Achievement Academy participants will:
• Examine the Math TEKS based on learning progressions and critical checkpoints for student understanding;
• Experience classroom-ready activities, including formative assessment and follow-up activities that account for learner variability;
• Build a toolkit of strategies and key questions through analysis of activities for students with disabilities, English language learners, students struggling to learn mathematics, and gifted learners;
• Explore structures that provide opportunities for meaningful practice and feedback.
ALL 3 DAYS WILL BE FROM 8:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.
Audience: 4th Grade Math Teachers, Special Education Teachers
**To be eligible for the stipend you must complete all 3 days and understand that if you previously attended, or plan to attend, a math academy for any grade level you are only eligible to receive one stipend in total for mathematics. Private school teachers, campus instructional coaches and/or administrators are ineligible to receive the stipend.**
