The purpose of the Texas Language Leaders Cohort is to develop foundational knowledge and professional learning design skills for those who support World Language teachers, currently and/or in the future. This cohort includes: two days of virtual learning from June 13-14, 2023, and two virtual sessions from 4:30 - 6:00 on September 13, 2023 and January 17, 2024. On June 13th, participants will solidify their foundational knowledge regarding the TEKS, backward design and high leverage teaching practices for World Languages. On June 14th, participants will explore principles of design related to creating and facilitating professional learning for World Language educators, and they will develop a plan for a learning experience that will be delivered in one’s region. Virtual sessions in September and January will focus on continued learning regarding high leverage practices and improving professional learning plans. In addition to the synchronous zoom sessions, participants will have assigned work before and in between synchronous sessions. All work must be completed, and all synchronous zoom sessions must be attended to earn credit for the cohort.
Due to a limited number of openings, the cohort is only open to candidates who apply via Google form and are selected based on how well they articulate: 1) what they hope to learn in the cohort, and 2) ideas for how they will implement what they learn to facilitate quality learning experiences for World Language educators. The application window is open until February 28th. Registration will open for selected candidates in March. REGISTRATION IS NOW ONLY OPEN FOR SELECTED CANDIDATES WHO HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL.
