Text complexity and targeted TEKS are critical components of instruction as we strive for student growth. Text complexity, according to TEA, increases with challenging vocabulary, sophisticated sentence structures, nuanced text features, cognitively demanding content, and subtle relationships among ideas. Participants in this session will explore ways to select texts across multiple genres based on these aspects and then to align high-priority TEKS to the use of selected complex texts.
