A “workshop” allows a group of people to share knowledge and experiences while pursuing common work. Utilizing "workshop" strategies in 6-12 ELAR classrooms increases opportunities for students to become engaged readers and writers with the ability to transfer skills across genres. In this session, participants will apply specific strategies to plans for their classrooms. To guide their personal designs, participants will have a model of classroom instruction utilizing mentor texts, mini-lessons, reading/writing notebooks, collaboration, and conferring. Additionally, participants will experience and explore additional strategies to complement their “workshop” classrooms such as QuickWrites and literature circles.
This session is being hosted by Frisco ISD. Frisco ISD teachers need to register through Frisco ISD. All other participants will register here.
