Implementing an MTSS framework requires the use of several types of research-based assessments, including those that screen, diagnose, progress monitor, and summatively assess students’ knowledge and skills. Having an assessment plan is critical to effectively implement the MTSS framework. How can we provide interventions if we don’t monitor a student’s progress? How can we monitor a student’s progress, if we don’t have defined, research-based assessments? This session is a TIER network training and has been vetted and approved by TEA. The objectives for this session include the following:
- Evaluate assessments currently being used within MTSS
- Describe important considerations for training and support in assessment administration
- Explain data management and its importance within MTSS
- Analyze different types of districts, campus, classroom, and individual student data
- Describe important considerations for supporting teachers in using data.
