OT PT Continuing Education Series
Promoting Participation: Recess Re-Energized

Sessions to cover various topics of Occupational and Physical Therapists working in the school setting. Specific topics will be indicated in the Subtitles of the session.

Important Session Information:

There has a been a shift in schools to increase academic time and decrease or eliminate recess. Recess promotes whole child development. A safe and well-supervised recess time is beneficial cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. It is important to increase the awareness of school staff, parents, and administrators of the benefits of recess, strategies to improve recess and engage the community in the support of recess. School-based PTs, OTs, and APE teachers are uniquely positioned to serve in leadership positions to enliven this critical part of the school day! Get empowered to take action! Amy Schlessman, PT, DPT, DHS from the University of Findley in Ohio presented a similar session at he 2020 Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy Annual Conference.
