Pre-K Academy Cohort
Summer 2021




The revised Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines reflect current research and best practices in early childhood education. The Guidelines provide challenging but achievable outcomes and concepts that children in high-quality Pre-K programs are to master in each domain as a precursor to the Kindergarten TEKS.

Participants will examine the revised Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and learn how to effectively incorporate them in a high-quality early childhood classroom. 

The Pre-K Academy Cohort is a series of 5 synchronous/asynchronous sessions.  Each 1 hour synchronous session will be followed by a 2 hour, self-paced, asynchronous requirement.  Upon completion of all sessions and asynchronous work, participants will receive 15 hours of professional development credit. An overview of the following 10 domains will be explored through this series.

  • Social and Emotional Development
  • Language and Communication
  • Emergent Literacy Reading
  • Emergent Literacy Writing
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Fine Arts
  • Physical Development

All registered participants will receive login information, including the Zoom link, or, necessary content and materials, prior to each session or webinar date. Participants must attend all five synchronous sessions and complete the asynchronous work for credit.

2-Language/Communication (Weds, June 30th 1-2PM)

3-Reading/Social Studies (Weds, July 7th 1-2PM)

4-Writing/Fine Arts/Physical Development (Tues, July 27th 1-2PM)

5-Math/Science/Tech  (Weds, Aug 4th 1-2PM)

This session is free to all Districts/Charter Schools/Private Schools who have committed to the Region 10 Early Childhood Package. All non-Region 10 package participants will pay $300.00 per person for this event.
