In this workshop, teachers will learn how to assess student language performance by rating samples. Participants will start the session by making a correlation between the LOTE TEKS and ACTFL’s Performance Descriptors for Language Learners. Once foundational understanding of how the TEKS expect students to demonstrate language performance according to the seven domains in the performance descriptors, participants will examine student language samples to evaluate the subtle differences between proficiency levels (novice mid through advance low). Walk away from this training empowered to assess your students’ language performance and lead them toward course goals for developing language according to the expectations of the TEKS.
