This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.
In this two-day workshop, teacher teams will unite to examine approaches to writing fine arts curriculum. After completing pre-reading on understanding by design, backward design and what curriculum is and isn’t, on day one, teams will craft a vision for their student learning outcomes and examine how to map the Fine Arts TEKS on a year at a glance template (YAG). After independent work, teams will reconvene in the afternoon to share and receive feedback on their YAGs. On day two in the morning, teams will examine unit design and work independently to start designing their units. Teams will meet in the afternoon to share and receive feedback on their work. Teams will also have time to discuss next steps and how to address potential challenges that may arise related to curriculum completion, training and implementation.
