Young children learn best through hands-on exploration and experiences that engage their senses. Parents and caregivers need concrete activities, resources, and modeling to support the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines at home. Using sensory activities, young learners can develop social-emotional skills as well as meaningful academic skills. Participants will explore a variety of sensory learning activities and resources and learn how to foster parent and caregiver engagement at home. Participants will collaborate and curate meaningful SEL and academic activities/resources, create their own sensory activities aligned with the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, and develop parent communication products to support at-home, sensory engagement and instruction. During this self-paced course, participants will receive instructions to complete a three-hour, application learning module. To receive three hours of professional development credit, it is necessary to complete and submit the specified, electronic proof of self-paced learning.
