High-quality Pre-K classrooms are intentionally planned to be hands-on and engaging. Meaningful mathematics for young children occurs when planned, purposeful and playful activities are relevant and captivate their attention. In this asynchronous professional development experience, participants will examine the Texas Prekindergarten Mathematics Domain skills and explore how to use the timeless tool of play dough to lead mathematics learning with young children in both face-to-face and remote learning environments. Participants will collaborate and curate meaningful mathematics activities/resources, create their own play dough and mathematics activities aligned with the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, and create parent communication products to support at-home instruction. During this self-paced course, participants will receive instructions to complete a three-hour, application learning module. To receive three hours of professional development credit, it is necessary to complete and submit the specified, electronic proof of self-paced learning.
