Education Summit-Developing Cultural Competence

These events will support educators in developing culturally conscious instructional practices and learning environments in order to support equitable opportunity for educational success.

Important Session Information:

The Education Summit is an annual gathering of representatives from many child serving agencies such as education, child protective services, juvenile justice services, health and human services, and behavioral health services.   Through information presentations, discussion and sharing of ideas we seek to increase our service delivery and support systems for culturally diverse families and communities.

In this cross agency training the participants will work to:

  • Gain a deeper understand of how biases impact our perception of cultural differences
  • Gain a better understand the ways in which privilege may act as a barrier in development of services and supports for children and families
  • Increase cultural awareness and understand the ways in which culture influences values and behaviors
