K-5 Tech Apps Competency




WeTeach_CS has curated a special 3-day workshop for teachers that integrates computational thinking, computer science, cybersecurity, and AI into core curricula, offering K-5 teachers a chance to enhance their pedagogical approaches. Presented by the Region 10 ESC STEM consultant.

Welcome toLaunch_K5 CS, where education takes flight into a realm of innovation and possibilities! Launch_K5 CS is a dynamic 3-day hybrid workshop designed for K-5 educators, crafted to align seamlessly with the new K-5 Technology Applications TEKS set to be implemented in the 2024-2025 school year. Dive into an engaging experience that integrates computational thinking, computer science, cybersecurity, and AI into core curricula, offering educators a unique opportunity to enhance their teaching approaches.

The Launch_K5 CS program is designed to:

  • Immerse educators in a 3-day hybrid workshop, equipping them with the skills to seamlessly integrate computer science into their teaching practices
  • Align teaching strategies with the latest Technology Applications TEKS, ensuring curriculum is up-to-date and in line with educational standards
  • Explore a comprehensive set of K-5 lessons, including both unplugged and plugged activities, ready for immediate implementation in the classroom.
  • Embrace the future of education by learning about block-based coding and physical computing, essential skills for preparing students for the digital age

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will receive a physical computing set to take back to their classrooms.K-2nd grade teachers will receive a set of 2Vex 123 robots, and3rd-5th grade teachers will receive a set of10 micro:bits

ALL K-5 Teacherswill need to register for September 16th training. This is REQUIRED for day 1. 

K-2 teachers will need to register for the October 16th date for their day two REQUIRED training. 

3-5 Teachers will need to register for the November 18th REQUIRED training. 

ALL K-5 Teacherswill complete the day 3 asynchronous training.
