Meaningful small group instruction and engaging center activities begin with intentional planning. Participants will examine the research behind purposeful instruction across subject matter disciplines, implement instructional strategies that promote the development of knowledge and skills, plan activities to enhance participation in centers, and discuss/share ways to purposefully integrate knowledge into high-interest activities for centers. Specific strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including struggling students, will be included. Best practices that promote kindergarten readiness will also be explored and discussed.
