This Teaching & Learning professional learning opportunity will provide content, material, and strategies to assist educators in meeting the needs of students in their district.
This two-day basic welder certification workshop will provide:
Day 1- A review of the current TEA Accountability List and brief overview of applicable licensure documents: AWS D1.1, AWS D9.1, API 1104, AWS SENSE, AWS CW Welding defects, visual inspection and the use of welding inspection tools a review of weld test lesson plans for basic AWS D1.1, AWS D9.1 welder certification New international welding and cutting torch curriculum and certification process.
Day 2- Hands on welding of AWS D1.1 Tack welder, AWS D9.1 Sheet welder and limited thickness AWS D1.1 Fillet welder, inspection and destructive testing for welder certification. Completing application paperwork for welder certification Oxy-Fuel Torch training and completion of the certification practical portion (if desired) demonstrations.
YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN SUPPLIES! If you feel that you may need "extra" please make plans for that. The facility will have some items available. Please see the list below. You would need the following:
1/4" x 2” x 6” plates for D9.1 testing
1/2” x 3” x 3” plate for D1.1 Tack testing
1/8” E7018 welding rod, MIG wire if applicable
**Make sure to bring enough to get yourself certified! Minimum of six plates of each size
