Leading Practice Based Professional Development

Today’s instructional leaders have the unique charge of making professional development meaningful for staff. For leaders, creating PD that is engaging, meaningful, and promotes growth can be challenging if one doesn’t know where to start.  In this session you will gain insight on how to present material in such a way that will allow participants to take what they learn and put it into practice. Session participants will walk through 4 components to make PD more impactful going forward.

  1. See it: Design airtight activities that give participants a model to follow
  1. Name it: Facilitate substantive sharing that allows participants to draw the conclusion; then name it with formal vocabulary
  1. Do it: Ensure that participants plan & practice implementing their learning in simulated and real-world experiences
