Important Breakout Information: Students acquiring English are between a quarter and half as likely to be identified as gifted compared to students who were not ELs. In an attempt to address the serious challenges associated with the under identification and under servicing of diverse populations of gifted students, we will focus on how to help identify and advocate for our EB/ GT students. We will discuss what traits and characteristics to look for and how to help increase the identification of this population of students for gifted programming.
