R10 Virtual Multilingual Symposium

"The theme this year is ""Embracing Multilingualism"" because we recognize that our students are not only continuing to develop their home language(s), but are also learning additional languages(s). We want to embrace the beauty of multilingualism and the benefits that it encompasses. While serving multilingual students is the focus of our symposium, many of the practices we would offer are applicable to ALL students. This is why we are inviting educators from departments that include Bilingual and ESL, Special Education, Gifted and Talented, Early Childhood, Dyslexia, and Migrant. Our audience will include teachers, administrators, counselors, department coordinators, paraprofessionals, parents, college students, and others wanting to attend. Join us from the comfort of your own area and get ready to learn!"

Important Breakout Information:

Multilingual students come to school with a treasure chest of personal experiences from life and their cultures. One of the greatest treasures is their multilingualism - the ability to employ different languages to understand the world and to be understood. In this interactive keynote, Tan will share ways we can create space for translanguaging so multilinguals can be successful at school while nurturing their ties to their cultures.
