Teachers will learn to use universal design principles to plan engaging activities that stimulate critical thinking and problem solving in young children. Teachers will gain specific strategies for differentiating instruction in math, science, and engineering activities to meet the needs of all students. This workshop is designed to support early childhood teachers in developing skills necessary to design and teach STEAM curriculum in a wide variety of classroom contexts. In the making math and science meaningful session, teachers will have the opportunity to explore strategies for building foundational numeracy and inquiry-based science concepts in early childhood education. Using interactive activities, teachers will develop an understanding of how to make an array of S.T.E.A.M. concepts accessible to all children.
