This full-day session is for anyone responsible for completing the district’s annual counselor work time assessment and analysis, including counseling directors, campus counselors serving in this role, or administrators who oversee counseling programs.
We will walk through the statutory requirements in Texas Education Code §33.006(h) and the related Commissioner’s Rule in 19 TAC §61.1073, which require districts to annually assess compliance with their counselor time allocation policy and be prepared to provide documentation if selected for a TEA review.
Participants will leave confident in what’s required for state compliance and with strategies for using work time data to advocate for counseling programs, report to district leadership and school boards, and identify areas for targeted support and training.
