Assumptions, Labels, and the Reality of Gifted Learners explores the common myths and oversimplifications often associated with gifted students and contrasts them with the lived experiences of gifted learners. Participants will examine how labels such as “high-achieving,” “easy,” or “self-motivated” can mask unmet academic, social, and emotional needs. Through discussion and reflection, educators will gain a clearer understanding of the diverse profiles of gifted learners and how misconceptions can impact identification, expectations, and support. The session emphasizes more responsive, informed practices that honor both the strengths and challenges of gifted students.
