**Please note, this learning experience is a virtual event and will not be hosted at a physical site.**
Writing professor and author John Warner acknowledges in his book More Than Words: How to Think about Writing in the Age of AI that the things ChatGPT and other Large Language Models (LLMs) are “smarter” at—speed and efficiency—are relatively limited as compared to our human capacities for experience, reflection, analysis, and creativity. When we utilize AI as part of the writing process, we never want AI to be more than a tool to amplify our own human capacities. In this one-hour Zoom session, participants will experience and evaluate strategies to increasingly utilize AI within writing instruction without allowing students to outsource the real work of writing: thinking. Many strategies will not require students to directly access AI so that all teachers can engage students in much-needed conversations about this ever-present technology.
