A very small population of students with significant cognitive disabilities may not yet exhibit an authentic academic response. This course was developed by Texas Sped Support for educators supporting a student with the most significant cognitive disabilities and complex access needs that does not yet exhibit an authentic academic response. The purpose of this training is to give educators the information and tools to work towards building an authentic academic response with those students. During this training participants will discuss creating a thorough PLAAFP for these students, data collection methods, shaping an intentional response, identifying best practices for working with students with no authentic academic response, and recognizing authentic academic responses.
