Beyond What Meets the Eye and Ear: Supporting the Mental Health of Students with Sensory Impairments




Attendees will explore best practices for assessing, intervening, and providing support for students with sensory impairments, including visual and hearing disabilities.

Important Session Information:


Students with visual impairments and those who are deaf or hard of hearing face unique mental health challenges that are often overlooked in school settings. This engaging three-hour session will equip educators with the knowledge and strategies needed to recognize and address the social-emotional and mental health needs of these students. Participants will explore the impact of communication barriers, social isolation, and accessibility challenges on mental well-being. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to provide meaningful support and foster resilience in students with visual and hearing impairments.
