In this Zoom professional learning session, we will delve into the importance of using varied problems and contexts in mathematics instruction, as emphasized in Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI). CGI is an evidence-based approach that empowers students to develop their own problem-solving strategies by building on their intuitive understanding of mathematical concepts.
This session will focus on the distinctions and connections between multiplication/division contexts and representations specified within the TEKS. Explore the various multiplicative contexts, and discuss how understanding these mathematical relationships is essential to support students' conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.
