Making Sense of the Federal Budget, Debt and Deficits




This Social Studies professional learning opportunity will provide support with implementing the Social Studies TEKS, research-based instructional strategies focused on inquiry, historical thinking, future-ready learning, and access to quality resources targeted to provide support for all secondary courses (grades 9-12).

Important Session Information:


This one-day professional development program is designed for high school and middle school teachers of economics, government, history, political science and civics, as well as curriculum specialists.       The program uses a non-biased approach designed to provide teachers with an understanding of the fundamentals of taxation, the Federal budget, debt and deficits.  A  variety of lecture / discussions as well as simulations for classroom use are used throughout the day.  Meals and $150 honoraria provided
