Experience the story of Moulin Rouge through dance from the professional development choreography workshop led by a Broadway Dallas teaching artist followed up by seeing the electrifying spectacle of a show at the Music Hall in Fair Park. The choreography workshop will be inspired by the dance moves created by Moulin Rouge’s Tony-nominated choreographer, Sonya Tayeh. In a Variety magazine interview, Tayeh, discussed how she worked from the following question as she incorporated different dance styles into the musical’s choreography, “How do I build the movement that moves the story and stays clear within that story?” From songs such as “Lady Marmalade”, based on the movie’s version of the 1975 song to Cab Calloway’s “Minnie the Moocher” to Fatboy Slim’s “Because We Can,” the music and dance build the glamorous world of the story where Bohemians and aristocrats figure out love and life.
This workshop is provided by Broadway Dallas. Region 10 is handling registration and marketing the workshop.
