Social Studies (All Grade Levels)
Creating a Culture of Thinking Book Study

This Social Studies professional learning opportunity will provide support with implementing the Social Studies TEKS, research-based instructional strategies focused on inquiry, historical thinking and future-ready learning and access to quality resources targeted to provide support for all grade levels.

Important Session Information:

“The new valued commodity for the 21st Century is refined thinking skills.”  Critical Thinking is a verb which implies DOING something. Join us as we explore Rebecca Stobaugh’s 50 Strategies to Boost Cognitive Engagement: Creating a Thinking Culture in the Classroom.  Through this book study we will dig deeper into ways that you can “transform your classroom from one of passive knowledge consumption to one of active engagement with strategies that foster cognitive engagement and develop deep-level processing.”

Following the book study, there will be a 3-hour face to face follow up session to earn additional 3-6 hours of credit.

Notes: This is an asynchronous session that will be shared via a Google Site.  Participants are asked to purchase their own book.  There will also be a follow-up workshop for this book study held on November 4 at Region 10.

**The course opens on March 1 and closes on March 31..
