This training is for instructors to become certified in the AWS Advanced Qualification. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ THE LIST OF REQUIRED MATERIALS!
Day 1 November 7th: Advanced Welder Qualification- Classroom, Day 1, 8 AM to 4 PM
Review of advanced welder certifications and equipment needed.
AWS Full Length Fillet, V-Groove with/without backing
Intro to pipeline and pressure vessel welding certifications and how to obtain.
API 1104 Pipeline, ASME IX Pressure Vessel, International Structural
Visual welding inspection and beginning the process of obtaining certification (post training req’d)
Establishment of weld shop accreditation requirements and initiate self auditing.
Day 1 November 8th: Advanced Welder Qualification- Hands on, Day 2, 8 AM to 4 PM
Instructor demonstrations of all TEA welder testing joints (AWS SENSE and CW have additional req’mts)
Teacher practice, testing and certification of AWS D1.1, AWS D9.1, ASME and API welder Qual Tests.
AWS Certified Welder Testing and radiography (X-ray) of welded connections (limited No. of applicants)
Teacher training on how to administer, submit, view and interpret welder qualification testing docs.
All participants will receive:
Professional development credit hours, certificate of training and welder certification wallet card;
Online welder qualification/certification profile in the international certification registry;
Training manual, welder testing lesson plans, instructional lesson plans, free trial period for virtual learning;
Visual weld inspection tool kit; oxy-fuel torch training and certification.
Also, we will begin the process for additional certifications that require some additional post-training work:
AWS Certified Welder Credential upon passing, (limited availability for this test)
Weld shop accreditation as an approved testing and training center
Certified welding inspector, (various options available)
Materials, supplies and equipment needed: (I will be bringing some of this equipment, if the school don’t have it.
1/4" x 2” x 20’ steel strap (can be cut into smaller sections)
3/8” x 3” x 20’ steel bar (can be cut into smaller sections)
1/2" x 4” x 4” steel bar
SMAW, GMAW power sources
Hydraulic press- for breaking and bending required welds - Provided by host site
Horizontal band saw- for cutting and sectioning welded plates for testing - Provided by host site
Track torch- for beveling required test plates
Guided bend testing fixture- for bending required test plates - Provided by host site
1/8” E7018 welding electrodes - must bring enough to demonstrate all required skills
ER70S-6 GMAW wire - must bring enough to demonstrate all required skills
