ELAR K-5
Small Group Reading Instruction

Region 10 ELAR offerings promote integrated reading, writing, listening, speaking, and thinking for TEKS-based instruction utilizing authentic reading and reflective writing.

Important Session Information:

There is a science behind teaching children to read. It involves teaching them to read the words on the page as well as understand what the words mean. In this session participants will gain an understanding of how to identify and focus instruction on a student’s specific area of need utilizing Scarborough’s Reading Rope and assessment data collected. We will explore text based small groups and skill based small groups to determine the most effective type to meet individual student needs.
