Social Studies (All Grade Levels)
Creating a Culture of Thinking (Book Study Follow Up)

This Social Studies professional learning opportunity will provide support with implementing the Social Studies TEKS, research-based instructional strategies focused on inquiry, historical thinking and future-ready learning and access to quality resources targeted to provide support for all grade levels.

Important Session Information:

“The new valued commodity for the 21st Century is refined thinking skills.”  Critical Thinking is a verb which implies DOING something. Join us as we explore Rebecca Stobaugh’s 50 Strategies to Boost Cognitive Engagement: Creating a Thinking Culture in the Classroom.  Through this book study we will dig deeper into ways that you can “transform your classroom from one of passive knowledge consumption to one of active engagement with strategies that foster cognitive engagement and develop deep-level processing.”

This session will be a face to face three hour follow up to the Creating a Culture of Thinking Bookstudy that will run through October.  Participants will also have the option to earn an additional 3 hours of credit following the face to face session by completing an asynchronous extension activity.
