Low Incidence Disabilities (LID) training
A Step Towards IEP Quality and Rigor

Training relating to education or services for students with low incidence disabilities.

Important Session Information:

THIS IS AN ONSITE TRAINING

During this training educators will gain understanding of critical components of the IEP including the Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), goals/objectives and progress monitoring. A rubric was developed by the Texas Complex Access Network (TX CAN) to guide the development of high quality and rigorous PLAAFPs, goals, objectives, and progress monitoring for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Session participants will review the quality and rigor rubric and apply it to the IEP’s, PLAAFP, Goals, Objectives, and Progress Monitoring using examples documents as well as one they have created. Educators will have a copy of the rubric to utilize in their district to assist with creating PLAAFPs, goals, objectives, and progress monitoring methods that are rigorous and of high quality.

This training was created by the Texas Complex Access Network in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for special education teachers and educational diagnosticians.
