**Please note, this learning experience is a virtual event and will not be hosted at a physical site.**
Some experts contend that a gifted child’s friendship pattern and social concept is more related to his/ her mental age than their chronological age. With their complex vocabulary, love of word play and complicated games, focus and justice and fairness, and emotional sensitivities, some gifted students find it difficult to make social connections with their grade level peers. In this two-hour session, teachers will learn what issues to look for in the classroom regarding friendships, and how best to support their gifted students’ unique social needs. Two hours of credit includes a written reflection on the professional learning.
This session is an asynchronous learning opportunity. Content will be shared via Peardeck slides and an application of learning and reflection will be submitted for credit, through a Google form. Submissions will be due no later than midnight on August 1, 2022. Credit will not be granted until two weeks after the final due date of the course.
