Mental Health Training and Awareness
Grieving and Resilience

Mental health professionals understand the biological, cultural, developmental, and social influences on mental and behavioral health, its impacts on learning, and evidence-based strategies to promote social–emotional functioning. Mental Health Training & Awareness supports school staff by increasing awareness and knowledge of mental health and co-occurring disorders as well as the presenting symptoms that affect an individual’s ability to thrive.

Important Session Information:

There are circumstances all around that produce deep disappointment and challenge us to move through them.  Grieving is the main mechanism to help us create honor for what we have lost or for the deep longings that will not be met and helps us to move forward.  During this presentation we will discuss grief models that provide value related to challenges, choices, and characteristics of the phases and stages in grieving.  We will discuss how those apply to students and to the counseling process with those students.  We will also discuss factors that foster resilience, provide hope and a future focus for students, parents, and educators.
