High-quality Pre-K classrooms are intentionally planned to be hands-on and engaging. Language and literacy-rich learning experiences for young children must be robust in planned, purposeful and playful activities. In this asynchronous professional development experience, participants will examine the following Texas Prekindergarten Guideline Domains: Language and Communication and Emergent Literacy Reading. Participants will explore how to use the timeless tool of play dough and common classroom/household items to lead language and literacy learning with young children in both face-to-face and remote learning environments. Participants will collaborate and curate meaningful language and literacy activities/resources, create their own play dough, develop language and literacy activities aligned with the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, and create parent communication products to support at-home instruction. During this self-paced course, participants will receive instructions to complete a three-hour, application learning module. To receive three hours of professional development credit, it is necessary to complete and submit the specified, electronic proof of self-paced learning.
