It's Not all Rainbows and Unicorns: Why Being Gifted isn't Always a Gift (K-12, 3 hrs) This is a three hour course. Giftedness is about more than simply being “really smart” or prodigiously creative; it is having an alternative way of thinking that comes with a unique set of intellectual and interpersonal skills, as well as some other challenges. While the term suggests an advantage, being exceptionally bright can feel like a like a burden to some. In this session we will discuss the "downside" to being gifted and how teachers can support their students who struggle with certain aspects of giftedness.
This session is a blended learning opportunity. A required Zoom on the specified date will include explanations of the remaining asynchronous work. Additional content will be shared via a Bitmoji virtual classroom and an application of learning and reflection will be submitted for credit. Submissions will be due no later than April 27, 2021
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
