**Please note, this learning experience is a virtual event and will not be hosted at a physical site. **
During this series, participants will explore the increasing cultural diversity of American schools and the need for educators to create culturally responsive classrooms. The Culturally Responsive Teaching Series includes 6-1 hour sessions that will guide participants to recognize, affirm, and respond to these differences and associated needs as well as develop strategies to increase the educational success and experiences of culturally diverse students. Participants may register for each session separately and there is no particular order in which the sessions must be taken.
What is culture? Participants will identify the two main cultural categories and the dimensions of equity, including multiculturalism, social justice, and culturally responsive pedagogy. We will then explore the levels of culture and the way this connects to the brain and human emotions. Learn why culture is ultimately the software to the brain’s hardware as we practice protocols for engaging in conversations about cultural identity.
