SEL: Soothing our Stressed GT Students (K-12, 3 hrs) This is a 3 hour course. Gifted individuals have added complexity in their thoughts and feelings that can lead to stress and anxiety. The pressure to excel, feelings of isolation, experiencing self-doubt, lacking appropriate intellectual challenges, and the need to prove their giftedness can all exacerbate their stress levels. In this session, we will discuss the warning signs of stress in our students, triggers for the pressures they are feeling, and how teachers can support and guide gifted students to cope with and manage their stress.
This session is a blended learning opportunity. A required Zoom on the specified date will include explanations of the remaining asynchronous work. Additional content will be shared via hyperdoc and an application of learning and reflection will be submitted for credit. Submissions will be due no later than May 22, 2021
