**Please note, this learning experience is a virtual event and will not be hosted at a physical site.**
This series of blended learning opportunities will provide teachers with an understanding of NCTM’s eight effective mathematics teaching practices, based in part upon NCTM’s Taking Action: Implementing Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices in Grades 6-8 and Taking Action: Implementing Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices in Grades 9-12. Throughout the sessions, participants will explore rich mathematical tasks, analyze narrative and video cases of classroom instruction, and analyze student work samples that highlight the practices. Discussions will focus on ways to implement the practices in light of our current educational situations.
From NCTM’s Principles to Action: Effective teaching of mathematics builds fluency with procedures on a foundation of conceptual understanding so that students, over time, become skillful in using procedures flexibly as they solve contextual and mathematical problems. (p. 42)
