COMMITMENT: Can One Person Make a Difference?

Important Session Information:

**Please note, this learning experience is a virtual event and will not be hosted at a physical site.**

The answer is yes, and the key to it is commitment. Karen Blessen, Founder and Director of 29 Pieces will direct participants to consider peaceful ways to solve problems and how inner peace is an important part of spreading peace. Each participant considers a realistic commitment they can make to peacemaking and creates an art piece on which they document their commitment. This lesson can complement the annual UN Day of International Peace on September 21. It can also accompany a planned action or can celebrate collective commitment or success in upholding peace. The core message of this lesson is: one person does make a difference. After a discussion of the words PEACE and COMMITMENT, students create a piece of art that names and illustrates that commitment and can be hung in the student’s locker, at home, or worn as a pin as a daily reminder.
