**Please note, this learning experience is a virtual event and will not be hosted at a physical site.**
During this series, participants will explore the increasing cultural diversity of American schools and the need for educators to create culturally responsive classrooms. The Culturally Responsive Teaching Series includes 6-1 hour sessions that will guide participants to recognize, affirm, and respond to these differences and associated needs as well as develop strategies to increase the educational success and experiences of culturally diverse students. Participants may register for each session separately and there is no particular order in which the sessions must be taken.
How can cultural differences manifest themselves behaviorally? Once a solid understanding of the concept of culture, self-identity, and the dimensions of equity are in place, participants will deepen their learning about the behavioral implications of culture through role-play scenarios. We will identify effective research-based behavior interventions to better support culturally and linguistically diverse students and learn to leave behind ineffective strategies that only create stress for teachers and have little or no impact on positive behavioral outcomes for students.
