The Write Mindset: Teaching Young Writers to Think (K-2)
COHORT 2: November 9 - November 23

How do we teach our youngest students to put their thoughts on paper? Before they even make a mark on the page, we can help them learn to think as a writer. How? By highlighting and discussing the intentional decisions authors make, we are inviting our Kindergarten, first and second grade students to enjoy a front row seat into the thought process of a writer. Engaging in a variety of contexts such as interactive read-alouds, shared reading, interactive, shared and modeled writing opens the minds of young writers to the possibilities awaiting them. In this session participants will explore a variety of contexts in which teachers can expertly guide young students to think as writers.
