Literacy for Students with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI)

This, "Zoom" training is designed for Region 10 VI professionals (TVI and COMS), participants will learn about the many materials that can be used to put together books for the various Phases of CVI.  Children who visually function in Phase I have very specific literacy needs and appropriate books will be shared specific to this group of children.  Use of books on the iPad often work well for students who visually function in Phase II and a variety of ways to create books that are backlit will be shared.  Students who visually function in Phase III may find that use of the “Bubbling Technique” (C. Roman, 2018) is helpful when working on literacy.  How to create Bubbled words and how to use the “Bubbling Technique” will be discussed.
