Meeting Learners’ Needs: Constructing Specially Designed Instruction

In this session, we will explore how to address the unique needs that exist because of a student’s disability. Both general and special education teachers will learn how to provide effective specially designed instruction based on the cognitive abilities used to qualify students with specific learning disabilities to impact content instruction in inclusive or resource classroom settings. Teachers will learn how to locate critical information in the Full and Individual Evaluation (FIE), understand the instructional implications, select instructional strategies and accommodations to directly support the learner to master their individual education program (IEP) goals and objective, as well as, ensure access to and progress in their general education classrooms.
