World Languages-Addressing Student Gaps in Learning Due to COVID-19: Part III, Planning for the First Week of School




This blended workshop is the third in a three part series of learning experiences designed to help World Language (LOTE) educators plan for student learning gaps as a result of COVID 19. For a complete learning experience, it is recommended that educators take all three parts in the order they are offered. However, to offer flexibility and choice, each part may also be taken separately based on each educator’s needs. As a result of this workshop, educators will be able to design a plan for the first weeks of school to evaluate student learning gaps and plan instruction that anticipates learning needs. This learning experience consists of three steps. First, educators will meet via zoom to examine elements of effective planning for the first weeks of school (9:00-10:00). They will then work independently to prepare a plan for the first week of school (1 hour). In the afternoon, participants will meet via zoom to share their plans and receive feedback (2:00-3:00). Zoom meetings will be set up with different rooms for collaboration and discussion in job alike areas.

All participants registered on the Region 10 website will receive Zoom login information prior to the webinar date.To receive three hours of professional learning credit, it is necessary to attend the live webinar and submit the specified, electronic proof of self-paced learning.

There are two price tiers for this event:

  1. Members of the LOTE/Fine Arts Cooperative receive free registration.
  2. R10 teachers and Out of Region teachers who are not in the LOTE/Fine Arts Cooperative pay $100.00.
