Overall Course Description: This course will enhance the skill level of therapists working in pediatrics in conducting selected portions of an examination including a) taking a history for the pediatric client, b) reviewing the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal, integumentary and urogenital systems, c) reviewing general health and functional areas (communication, cognition, social-emotional, and feeding), and d) recognizing signs, symptoms and flags. Emphasis is on pediatric diagnoses managed by therapists and on differentiating conditions beyond the scope of practice of the therapist which should be referred to another practitioner in addition to or instead of receiving services from the therapist. The student is expected to bring knowledge of tests and measures and examination procedures unique to the discipline.
This session is part of a series of PD on differential diagnosis for PTs and OTs. This session was originally schedule on May 12th in the afternoon. PT CCUs were applied for as one 6.0 hr course therefore to receive PT CCUs you much also have attended the course in the afternoon of May12 th (Part one of this session).
